The Union Nationale des Mutualités
Socialistes (National Union of Socialist Mutual Insurance Companies)
decides to deploy the I.R.I.S. solution for automated processing of
health care certificates in all of its federations |
Louvain-la-Neuve, 13 June 2012 – I.R.I.S., a
technology company (listed on EURONEXT Brussels: IRI) specialising in
intelligent document recognition (IDR), enterprise content management
(ECM) and optimised IT infrastructures, announces that the UNMS (Union
Nationale des Mutualités Socialistes) has placed an order for an
extension of its automated system for processing health care
certificates, allowing all of its federations to be equipped with it.
Belgian Socialist Mutual Insurance Companies manage the health care
reimbursements and sickness benefits of 3,100,000 members.
Pierre De Muelenaere, President & CEO of I.R.I.S. : "In
conjunction with the UNMS, we set up and put into production our
application for the automated processing of health care certificates
for an initial site. This production was successful and all of the
productivity criteria were achieved or exceeded. Our objective now is
to extend the system to the other federations."
Christophe Danhier, the UNMS' IT Manager comments: "We are very
pleased with the excellent collaboration with the I.R.I.S. teams , the
quality of the service provisions and the performance of the system set
up by the UNMS and I.R.I.S. The extension project aims to equip all
French- and Dutch-speaking branches of the UNMS and it will allow a
significant gain in productivity."
Digital medical file at the UNMS
The UNMS has been working closely with I.R.I.S. since 2005 for the conversion of members' files into digital files.
The UNMS's initial objectives were to go from hard copy filing to a
digital medical file, coupled with a document management tool. An
I.R.I.S. digitising and electronic document management solution was
firstly set up at Solidaris Liège, and then at Solidaris Mons
– Wallonia Picardy and finally in all of the French- and
Dutch-speaking mutual insurance companies. The initial project brought
many benefits to both the mutual insurance companies and the members:
- Huge reduction in storage spaces
- Improvement in the work of the mutual insurance
companies' employees who no longer have to go and look for information
in the hard copy files
- Very easy and swift access to the digital medical
file via the IRISNext™ solution from any federation whatsoever in
the network
- Improvement in the quality and speed of responses to members
- Ease of file transfer from one federation to another
- Making information available to members via the Internet "shop" (e-Mut)
Automated processing of treatment forms
Next, the UNMS looked for a solution for the digitisation of health
care certificates. A pilot project was launched in the mutual insurance
company Solidaris Liège. Being wholly satisfactory, this project
went into production and was then deployed in all of the country's
socialist mutual insurance companies.
The business solution developed by I.R.I.S., and which will be set up
in the different branches, is based on the following platforms:
- IRISPowerscan™ for the digitisation of health care certificates
- IRISCapture™ Pro for the reading and extraction of data from the certificates
- IRISNext™ for archiving and searching for medical files
The benefits of the solution developed by I.R.I.S. are
numerous. The mutual insurance company's staff benefits from a
substantial improvement in the processes and the quality of the work.
As for the members, they benefit from a better service at the counter,
with the officials having more time to listen and advise. They can also
check the processing of their health care certificates and check that
the corresponding reimbursements have indeed been effected into their
bank account.
