Frequently Asked Questions

IRIScan™ Book 2

1) My scanner isn’t recognized by Readiris ™
The scanner has been designed to be used disconnected from a computer, mainly to scan books and magazines.
Indeed, it isn’t possible to run the scanner using the software since there’s no TWAIN driver to perform that action.
After scanning your documents, connect the scanner via USB to your computer, launch Readiris™ Pro 12 for IRISCan™ Book 2 and go to “File” > “Open” to directly reach the storage memory of the IRISCan™ Book 2.

2) How do I format the Micro SD Card
Insert the Micro SD Card and switch on the scanner.
Then, insert a little paperclip in the “Format” button located on the side of the scanner (a “F” letter will appear on the digital screen).
After that press the “Scan” button : the little “SD” icon will be blinking for a few seconds.
That’s it, your Micro SD Card has been formatted.

3) What is the SD Adapter used for?
In this adapter you’ll be able to insert the Micro SD Card in order to transfer scanned documents to a device which owns a SD Card slot (Computers, IPAD,…)
Tip : some of the SD Adapter have a little grey locker on the left side of the device : it must be up to be unlocked.

4) The green light doesn’t turn on when I press the scan button
First, make sure that the batteries aren’t empty. If so, replace them with new ones.
Then, check that the micro SD Card has been inserted the right way : it must be inserted with yellow labels faceup and completely inserted in the Micro SD Card slot (you’ll hear a little “click” noise to witness the successful insertion).

5) My scanner produces blurry images
Your scanner probably needs to be calibrated.
In order to calibrate it, follow the procedure that is explained on the “White Balance Calibration” card delivered in the box with the scanner.
Also, the lens of the scanner might need to be cleaned with a soft dry cloth.

6) The red error light appears when I scan
The sensor of the scanner has a speed limit while scanning. If the scanning is being performed too fast, the red error light will light up and the document must be scanned again.
If the red error light still appears, replace batteries with new ones.
Also, check that the Micro SD Card isn’t full.

7) What length of pages can I scan?
The scanning lengths are 50" when the scanner is in 300 Dpi and 25" when it's in 600 Dpi.

8) Does it support microSDHC memory cards?
microSD and microSDHC cards up to 32 Gb are supported.

9) How do I perform a white balance calibration?
- Place the scanner on a white paper and press the SCAN button to turn ON.
- Press and hold the C/BW button. While holding the C/BW button, press the SCAN button once to enter into auto-calibration mode. SD symbol will flash and stop when internal memory clearing process is complete.
- "GREEN" and "RED" LED light will then turn on. Do not move the scanner. Wait until the "RED" LED turns off. "GREEN" LED will stay on.
- Start scanning the white paper by sliding the scanner across the paper until the "GREEN" LED light turns off (slide the scanner backwards if necessary).
- Calibration is complete. Press and hold SCAN button to turn off the scanner.

Perform calibration only when white balance needs adjustement (blueish background...).
