The Audit Committee’s statutory role is to assist the Board of Directors in maintaining the company’s financial integrity by supervising its financial reporting, internal and external audits, internal controls and the financial relationship between the company and its shareholders. The members of the Audit Committee have full investigative powers to fulfil their supervisory role; indeed, their investigative powers are identical to those vested by law in a company auditor.
