Adobe integrates the iDRS into Adobe Acrobat 8 Family
| Adobe has chosen to integrate several modules of the iDRS, the core OCR technology of I.R.I.S., into its latest version of the Adobe® Acrobat® 8 family. This integration will allow the customers of the Adobe® Acrobat® 8 family to directly access I.R.I.S.’s extremely fast, accurate, and reliable OCR technology, supporting a wide range of languages and lexicons. |
The Adobe® Acrobat® 8 Professional family enables business professionals to reliably create, combine, and control Adobe PDF documents for easy, more secure distribution, collaboration, and data collection.
The integration of I.R.I.S.’ OCR technology dramatically improves the features of document capture in the Adobe® Acrobat® 8 family. It supports a large array of languages and lexicons and will enable Acrobat® 8 users to create more fastly and accurately fully indexed PDF files. Platform support
iDRS™ can be used with the latest Mircosoft connected technology (.net) allowing for example to build easily web services. It contains a C++ API as well as an active X component for easy integration. For the Macintosh platform, the iDRS™ is a Universal Binary library, ready for applications also targeting the Macintel computers. A Linux version of the iDRS™ can be integrated into Linux applications (GCC 3.4)
Modular application
The iDRS™ is divided in several modules, all independent from each other. You select only the technology you need for your application.
Easy integration
Thanks to the new architecture - the new API (application programming interface) as well as all the different samples of source codes provided to illustrate the integration of the functions - an integrator can create very easily an application using the iDRS™ in just a few hours.

Extremely fast technology
The iDRS™ is extremely fast. It is the fastest recognition technology available on the market. I.R.I.S. not only focuses on accuracy during the development of the technologies but also always spends time to “fine-tune” the algorithms for very fast processing.
More than 127 languages available including Asian, Hebrew, Cyrillic, Arabic and Farsi
Unlike other competitors, each recognition language is also supported by a comprehensive lexicon. All European languages are supported, including the Central- European languages, the Baltic languages, Greek and the Cyrillic ('Russian') languages. The four main Asian languages are also supported (Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese) as well as
Hebrew.
Recently, I.R.I.S. has added the support of Arabic and Farsi to the iDRS™.

Banking fonts
Thanks to the recognition of the most used banking fonts such as OCR-A, OCR-B, E13B and CMC7, you can easily set up a check reading solution or any other application that needs to use such very accurate technology.

Barcode Recognition 1-D and 2-D
I.R.I.S. has developed its own barcode recognition technology with always the same focus on accuracy and speed. All the most common 1-D barcodes are supported as well as the most used 2D barcode type: PDF 417 and QR code.

Lots of output formats
The iDRS™ offers a wide set of output formats for text documents such as PDF, RTF, HTML, unicode TXT, CSV or XML with many possible variants (compact, detailed, extended). The iDRS™ can either give you the possibility to get raw unicode recognized characters together with attributes, alternatives, coordinates, sizes as well as to recreate WYSIWIG text files that correspond to the original document in a wide variety of formats.

Advanced image processing
Thanks to some preprocessing modules iDRS™ offers some advanced image processing such as text deskewing, detection of the page orientation, despeckling, white page detection, line removals, black border removals, etc.
