This “Read Me” file guides you through the updating and installation procedure of the driver for the I.R.I.S. Card Scanner “IRISCard”.

1. Supported platforms

 

The IRISCard hardware supports the following Windows versions: Windows XP, 2000 and 98.

 

Earlier versions of Windows are not supported because the IRISCard scanner is a USB device!

2. Installation of scanner drivers under Windows ME and 98

 

Installing the IRISCard scanner for the first time

 

·          Plug the scanner into a free USB port of your PC before you boot the PC. (You may also be using a USB “hub” of course…)

 

·          Start your PC normally.

 

·          Windows will tell you you that new hardware has been found. Press "Next" to continue.

 

·          Insert this CD-ROM with the drivers into the CD-ROM drive.

 

·          When the system asks for driver location, indicate the location of your CD-ROM drive. (Select the installation option “Search for a suitable driver for my device”.)

Updating the IRISCard scanner

 

Invoke the update wizard for the IRISCard scanner as follows:

 

·          Go to the Windows “Control Panel” and select the “System” icon.

 

·          Select the tab “Device Manager”.

 

·          Expand the icon “Imaging Devices” by clicking its “+” sign. The IRISCard scanner should be listed.

 

·          Click its “Properties” button, go to the tab “Driver” and click the button “Update Driver”.

 

The “Update Device Driver Wizard” starts running. Select the installation option “Search for a suitable driver for my device”. Follow the on-screen instructions, pointing the Windows wizard to the location of the updated drivers.

3. Installation of scanner drivers under Windows XP and 2000

 

Users of Windows XP and 2000 must ensure that they have the necessary access rights - contact the system administrator if necessary.

 

Installing the IRISCard scanner for the first time

 

·          Plug the scanner into a free USB port of your PC before you boot the PC. (You may also be using a USB “hub” of course…)

 

·          Start your PC normally.

 

·          Windows will tell you you that new hardware has been found. Press “Next” to continue.

 

·          Insert this CD-ROM with the drivers into the CD-ROM drive.

 

·          Ignore the message that “This driver is not certified by Microsoft” and continue the installation procedure until its completion.

 

·          When the system asks for driver location, indicate the location of your CD-ROM drive. (Select the installation option “Search for a suitable driver for my device”.)

Updating the IRISCard scanner

 

Invoke the update wizard for the IRISCard scanner as follows:
